The Margalla Hills are a series of hills located north of Islamabad, Pakistan. The Margallas are excellent for hiking purposes and cater to both the serious hiker and the less serious enthusiast. The forests of Margalla combine foliate trees with randomly occurring palm trees.
   The best season to hike are the mild winter months when there's less rain and the days are extremely pleasant.
   Margalla hills are home to various species of wild life including monkeys, exotic birds and carnivores such as rare and presently endengered leopards. Security: Most of all for foreigners, it isn't advisable to go to the unconventional mountain tracks alone or without a Pakistani in the group as a few incidents of mugging has been reported in the last years. The safest and mostly frequent hike path is from the ZOO park to Daman-e-Koh.
